Lions vs. Bears Game Two
The Lions scored 35 points in the fourth quarter to set an NFL record. I said, the Lions scored 35 points in the fourth quarter to set an NFL record. What an interesting game. For most of the game all that we could think of was "SAME OLD LIONS". Yet, they managed to change the game and really turn it on when needed. A few blocked kicks, some pics, fumbles and a very tight game to start with and we had the makings of a real snoozer. Yet they won and are now 3 and 1. I said they are now 3 and 1.
A few things about the game. Roy (and now Furrey) really need to stop celebrating first downs. This is a joke. They both are very talented, and good football players. We really don't care about celebrating first downs. Anyways...it's hard to really get a handle on the Lions. Is this the real team or was it last week when they got killed by the Eagles? We are happy for the win, but it's still a bit surreal. I think we as Lion fans no better than to get too excited. The cornbread tastes good today, but we aren't going back for seconds. Yes they need a kicker. Why the hell they kicked to Hester is beyond me. That guy is super dangerous and their only real weapon and his 97 yard kick off return proved it.
At halftime they celebrated the 1957 team. They drove them around the perimeter of the field in Ford Mustangs. It was pretty lame actually. Nice I guess to celebrate that team, but they way they did it was boring. They deserve more.
The tailgate: When Ed loses at the Casino, the Lions win. So when he came back all sad, we were happy that the Lions were going to win. It worked! Keep losing Ed!. Chicago Style dogs were on the menu today. Priest Hayes was on the grill and did a fine job. Reuben & Artichoke dips were to die for. We had some Bear fans stop buy and steal some food, and impose. Not a big deal I guess...but strange no less. Someone brought Jill, and she wore a Bears jersey, that's what attracted the Bear fans. Hmmm.
We have tailgating set up and take down to a science. We can set up in 10 minutes flat, and we can close shop in 10 minutes flat. We rock!
We toasted the 57 team, without them we wouldn't be who we really are as Tailgaters and Sports Geeks.

Lions vs. Vikings Game One
Game One: The second game of the 2007 had the Lions taking on their division rivals The Vikings. You know it's important when Mr. Baxter comes to town! The Lions beat the Raiders last week, but had to win the first home game. And they DID! Yes they won! It was for the firs time in a very long time a very good entertaining game. Sure there were intereceptions, fumbles, and the struggles of a back up quarterback. Throw in 2 missed field goals, and you have a much needed OT win.
We found out that Calvin "Megatron" Johnson is a freak. They need to throw to him more. Roy played well, and the Shaun Macdonald contributed at the right time. Bell and Calhoun did a good job. The offense played well. The defense kept the team in the game, and Redding made some great plays. The secondary which we thought would be the weak link showed great signs of improvement. Granted Jackson is a great quarterback nor is Bollinger, but they tried. Adrian Peterson is the real deal. It may be fun watching him for the next 7 to 10 years in this division.
The tailgate was a B-. Food was excellent. Ed is right, you can't go wrong with Dearborn Ham. And the lemon caper spetzel that Sister Silver Rush made was most excellent. Joannes birthday pie was delicious per usual. All in all a decent tailgate, but the location was not up to par. We were not in our usual spot, as the lot was full earlier. We need to fix this and bring the tailgating back to normal levels.
No luck at the Casino for Mike and Ed. The season is still young - no worries. Next home game, will be the dreaded Bears. A tough defensive team, but we can deal with Grossman.
